Thurs, March 26: NYU Faculty & Students in Conversation: Are Young Men and Boys in "Crisis"?
Professors Michael Lindsey and Niobe Way discuss this year's theme with NYU undergraduates.
RSVP here
America’s young men and boys are falling behind previous generations of men on health, well-being, education, and civic engagement. Many are even calling this a "crisis." Regardless of what we call it, this challenge is being tackled across the political spectrum, by conservatives and liberals, and Democrats and Republicans, alike.
The nature of this challenge, and the many constructive approaches being offered to solve it, make it an ideal focus for the Berkley Institute's mission to bring together people with divergent perspectives to address our biggest civic challenges in good faith discourse. In its first year, many of the Berkley Institute’s events will convene elected officials, experts, and students to consider this theme from multiple perspectives.
Join the Berkley Institute and NYU students in conversation with NYU's Michael Lindsey (Dean, Silver School of Social Work) and Niobe Way (Professor of Applied Psychology, Steinhardt), whose rigorous and insightful research on boys and men has made them national leaders on this pressing problem. Professors Lindsey and Way will be joined onstage by current NYU students for a candid conversation about how these themes play out in college and beyond.
Date: Thursday, March 26
Time: 4-5:30pm | doors open at 3:30pm
Location: Grand Hall, Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life (238 Thompson St, 5th floor)
The entire NYU community - students, faculty, staff, and alumni - are welcome.
Space is limited and advance registration is required to attend. RSVP here.
